The pure Tamil name for this waterfall is “Uguneer Kal” (உகுநீர் கல்). Historically, this region was under the rule of the Mysore Kingdom from 1652 to 1768, and during this time, many Kannadigas settled here for administrative work, which led to the transformation of the name.

Boating is allowed during the dry season when the water flow is relatively calm. These coracles are made of bamboo and have a waterproof base, traditionally lined with hides or plastic sheets.
